A Day in Paphos – Sunsets and Scenery

0

Although many of the tourists to Paphos are familiar with Kato Paphos, most of the resident is living life in the upper side. Paphos is divided into two areas, Upper Paphos (“Pano” Paphos) and the tourist area or lower area by the sea of Kato Paphos. Our favourite scenic road and stops along the way between the two areas is the Tombs of the Kings coastal road. Along this coastal stretch of road are many beaches, a couple of nice water parks, restaurants and bars from which you can watch amazing sunsets on a daily basis! It really never gets old watching the sunset over the Mediterranean.

To see some of the amazing sunsets go from Kato Paphos, along the Tombs of the Kings Rd. and you can go out to the Coral Bay and Peyia area. You can also get to this road through town and you end up exiting by a winding road with banana trees on either side in Kissonerga facing the sea. The coastal drive along this road through Chloraka and Kissonerga is one of our favourites with the small 2 land road and sea to our side. Some of the bests stop along this road are the See You Beach Bar which offers food and drinks and a fabulous setting where you can watch the amazing sunsets. In the summertime, you will most certainly need reservations at this time of the day, but you can still stop and watch the sunset from the beach or you can find a seat on one of the nearby benches if you get there in time.

Another favourite is the Baracas Lounge which is also a great place to watch the sunset and have a drink and dinner. Right next door is a children’s playground where children can play and can be watched, but are not close enough to disturb diners. It is a fantastic seaside spot and a starting point from which you can walk along the paved coastal path. Continuing towards Coral Bay, of course, you can watch the sunsets from Coral Bay or Corallia Beach and even further if you make it to Agios Georgios or Akamas where there is unspoilt land, fewer crowds and where the turtles hatch throughout the summer which is an always a sight to be seen if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time! On the way back to town or Kato Paphos, a great spot for a casual dinner is Pepperoni Pizza on the left-hand side in Chloraka which serves wonderful pasta, pizza and salads. It is always busy but there is plenty of room and you will likely find a table. Another option if you have special dietary needs is Meraki Vegan Cafe a bit further along that serves, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan meals that even picky eater will love! If you have a day in Paphos, follow the road mentioned and make some stops along the way whether it is to take a dip in the sea, walk the coastal path or watch the sunset!
